Searching Park County Civil Dockets
The free Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search is the natural starting point. Pick Park County or Judicial District 11. Set a date or range, and add at least one other field. The portal will not run on a date alone. A full case number works best. Without one, search a party name. The court caption may spell it differently than you expect. That free result is only a calendar snapshot, not every civil filing. CoCourts sells non-protected statewide index data without the attached documents. For the full chronology, ask the Clerk of Court at Park County Combined Court for a Register of Actions. For exact text, the Record/Document Request form lets you name the complaint, motion, order, judgment, or satisfaction. Certification costs extra. It is a separate choice.
- Read the court name and class on a notice, pleading, or known case number.
- Choose Park County, a date, and one more filter in the free docket search.
- Review the case number, hearing type, time, appearance method, and courtroom.
- Request the ROA when the sequence of filings and rulings is needed.
- Order the exact signed judgment or other filed document when its words control.
One caution on printouts. Printable or exported calendar results do not add motions, prior settings, party history, or document images that the on-screen result never displayed.
Park County Civil Case Classes
The class code inside a Park County civil number tells you which docket family the case belongs to. It also helps route a records request. District Court uses CV for general civil matters and DR for domestic relations. Probate cases carry PR. County Court uses C for claims within its statutory authority and S for small claims. Civil thresholds can change over time. So rely on the class and the printed court name. Do not count on any assumed dollar cutoff.
- CV
- A general civil matter in Park County District Court.
- C
- A civil matter within Park County Court authority.
- S
- A small-claims file in Park County Court.
- DR
- A domestic-relations case in District Court, with some content subject to access limits.
- PR
- A probate matter in District Court, where protected content may require review.
A full case number combines a four-digit year, a class, and a sequence, like 2025 CV 000123. Keep the leading zeros. Private civil claims do not normally land in municipal court, so Fairplay and Alma ordinance dockets are no substitute for C, CV, S, DR, or PR records.
Inside a Park County Civil Docket
A civil calendar result in Park County tells you about a scheduled event. It does not cover the whole dispute. Expect date, start time, duration, case caption, case number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. The civil ROA goes further. It adds the court, division, filing date, case type, status, parties, counsel, chronological events, and judgment-related entries. Even so, it can list a complaint or order. It may still not show that document's text.
| Case Header | Year, class, sequence, court, division, filing date, case type, and status. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff or petitioner, defendant or respondent, added parties, and attorney roles. |
| Filed Events | Complaint, service return, answer, motion, response, notice, minute order, signed order, or appeal. |
| Scheduling | Next and last events, dates, times, appearance type, and courtroom. |
| Outcome | Judgment, default judgment, dismissal, satisfaction, transcript, or appeal entries. |
| Access | Restrictions or redactions may apply to protected domestic, probate, minor, or financial material. |
The ROA is a court record and a useful index. It still does not replace the signed order when exact obligations, findings, or deadlines matter.
Park County Civil ROA Versus Judgment
Three layers of a Park County civil case answer three different questions. The free docket tells you when court is set. The ROA tells you what entries were made. The filed complaint, motion, or signed order holds the real allegations. It carries the requests and the ruling too. A calendar view cannot fix the terms of a judgment. Likewise, checking the ROA box on a request form will not automatically order every paper. Those papers are only named in the case history. The official Colorado court record request source is what the first manifest image shows. It lets you request an ROA. It also covers an order for judgment, a transcript of judgment, a certificate of satisfaction, or a certification.
The form makes the distinction practical. Describe the exact Park County civil product you need. Give the case number. Check certification only when an authenticated copy is required. Ordinary filed-paper copies run $0.25 per page. Certification or exemplification is $20 per document. A transcript of judgment costs $25, and a certificate of satisfaction is $20. A name search is $5. Off-site retrieval runs at actual cost, so ask for a quote. Ask whenever page count, redaction, or archive status is unclear.
Civil Case Types on the Docket
Park County District Court takes general civil CV cases, domestic DR cases, probate PR matters, and Rule 120 proceedings within its jurisdiction. Park County Court handles C matters within county-court authority and S small claims. The docket class sets the search route and helps separate a private claim from municipal enforcement.
| Class | Court | Typical docket role |
|---|---|---|
| CV | Park County District Court | General civil jurisdiction and larger civil actions |
| C | Park County Court | Civil claims within county-court authority |
| S | Park County Court | Small claims |
| DR | Park County District Court | Domestic relations |
| PR | Park County District Court | Probate |
Transfers, venue changes, consolidation, and appeals show up as docket events. The receiving court may assign or reuse another number, so keep both when a Park County civil file changes court.
Park County Civil Return Settings
The official Park County court page lists two recurring setting categories. County Court civil returns appear on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. District Court Rule 120 returns appear on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Those are standing schedule categories, though. They do not prove a specific setting. A Park County civil case is not guaranteed the next such day.
Which date controls? Use the newest signed or served notice, the current case entry or calendar, and direct clerk confirmation when the sources differ.
A Rule 120 return is part of Colorado foreclosure procedure, not a general CV trial date. A county civil return is also just a response or appearance setting, not proof that trial happens then. For the individual file, check the event type, appearance method, courtroom, and current status.
Civil Docket Settings and Hearings
Most Park County civil dockets read like a story in pieces. You might see service, an answer or a default, case-management steps, disclosures, motions, status settings, and eventually a trial, a dispositive ruling, a judgment, or a dismissal. Enforcement entries can follow. The free docket stresses what is scheduled now. The ROA holds the wider chronology. An old setting can linger on it even after a reset.
Never treat the last scheduled event as your next hearing. Continuances move dates. They do not erase the earlier entry, which stays as history. Only the court can grant one. A phone call to the clerk never excuses you from showing up. Neither does a filed request. For a tighter approach to dates, the Park County court dates resource walks through the calendar fields and the order in which to confirm them.
One more caution applies here. A public viewing link is not a party's participation link. Remote attendance always requires the court's current instructions for that setting.
Park County Civil Filing History
A Park County civil ROA tends to run in a familiar arc. It starts with a complaint or petition, then issuance and service, then an answer or a default. From there come case management, disclosures, motions, and a setting before trial or another dispositive ruling ends the fight. Judgment or dismissal closes that phase. Post-judgment work can add satisfaction, a transcript of judgment, garnishment, execution, or an appeal. Expect detours, though. Motions repeat. Settings get reset. Service attempts pile up, and enforcement can stretch the history well past any tidy line.
Civil docket flow: Complaint → Service → Answer or Default → Motions and Settings → Trial or Ruling → Judgment or Dismissal → Post-Judgment Activity
Outcome words mean exactly what they say. Each outcome carries its own role. Judgment, default judgment, voluntary dismissal, satisfaction, transcript of judgment, order, and appeal each carry that role in a Park County civil case. Treat "settled" or "resolved" as true only when an official civil event records it. And even when financial fields show up, the ROA is not a payoff quote.
Civil Docket Access Rules
Park County civil records carry a presumption of public access, and most can be searched or requested. Public does not mean instant, though. Domestic, probate, juvenile, sealed, medical, minor, and financial material may be withheld or redacted. The clerk can also ask for government identification, proof of entitlement, a release, or a court order before handing anything over.
The line between courts and agencies matters too. The official Colorado Open Records Act summary covers CORA's real territory: executive and county administrative records. CORA will not get you a pleading. It will not pull a judgment from a Park County court case either. Those live under court authority, not the open-records statute.
That boundary is the point, not a workaround. Judicial case records belong with the Combined Court clerk, governed chiefly by CJD 05-01. Court fees fall under CJD 06-01 and statutory authorities.
Access rule: A county CORA request cannot override a seal, suppression, protected field, or release requirement imposed on a Park County civil court record.
Missing Park County Civil Records
A missing Park County civil case usually has a simple cause. Check the party spelling. Check the individual-versus-business choice, the date filter, the four-digit year, the class, and the sequence. Make sure the search targets District Court CV, DR, or PR, or County Court C or S. Then call the Clerk of Court. A case with no event in the chosen range will not appear on the free calendar. Protected or older files may need direct review or off-site retrieval.
Every clerk channel stays open. Use the online record form. Write parkcountyclerk@judicial.state.co.us, dial 719-836-2940, fax 719-838-4569, or mail P.O. Box 190. You can also visit the counter at 300 Fourth Street in Fairplay. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except state holidays. Before a long mountain drive, check that the office is open. Ask whether a public-access terminal exists. Don't assume it does.
The web form aims to respond within three business days absent extenuating circumstances. That timeline is not a release guarantee. Missing numbers extend the work. Payment, redaction, restricted review, archive retrieval, or a needed court order can all extend it too. Whenever you can, give the full case number. Name the exact document as well.
